PCC offers the GED® test to earn a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Students take the test on a computer at an authorized testing center. The test is offered in English and Spanish.

The GED and Pearson VUE Authorized Testing Center is located at Downtown Campus.  Students and community members can check availability and schedule their tests online today!

How to Register

Step 1: Create a free profile at www.GED.com.

  • If you need assistance call GED Testing Service at 1-877-EXAM-GED (392-6433).

Step 2: Schedule and pay for your test online.

  • You will be prompted to purchase your test using a debit, credit, or prepaid card online.

Step 3: Show up on the date you chose at the testing center you selected.

  • Arrive 15 minutes early; late arrivals may not be able to test and may be charged full price even if they do not test.
  • You MUST bring a government issued photo ID.  The ID must match the name entered in GED.com.

Step 4: Check your scores online at www.GED.com.

  • Scores are up within 48 hours (2 business days)
  • Diplomas are mailed in 2-3 weeks.

Note: You must be 16 to test. Before scheduling 16/17-year-olds are required to bring a notarized letter of parent permission, a signed Official School Withdrawal from the last school attended and a government-issued photo ID to Pima Community College, Downtown Campus, Adult Basic Education for College and Career, 1255 N. Stone Ave, Room AH130., Tucson, Arizona 87509.

About the Test

You must pass the following four tests with a minimum score of 145 on each test to earn a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma:

Retests: You may take two retests per subject at $15 each. After that you must wait 60 days and pay the initial price again. 

Scores:

  • Below Passing: 100 - 144
  • GED® Passing Score: 145 - 164
  • GED® College Ready: 165 - 200

To pass the 2014 GED test for the purpose of receiving an Arizona High School Equivalency Diploma you must earn at least 145 points on each subject.

About the Civics Test

As of Jan. 1, 2017, anyone who takes the GED in Arizona will also have to pass the Civics Test to get their HSE diploma.

  • The Civics Test can only be taken at authorized GED/Pearson VUE testing centers and is scheduled on GED.com just like the other 4 GED subject tests
  • There are 100 multiple choice questions on the Civics Test and you must get 60 correct to pass
  • You may take the test as many times as needed and there is no waiting time in between
  • It is untimed, but scheduled for 2 hours. If you run out of time please contact the Arizona Department of Education
  • The cost is $9. It is only offered in English
