A Pima student walks the runway in a fashion show

Fashion Design

Pima’s long-established Fashion Design program gives students the solid foundational skills, technological training, and trend insights to succeed in today’s fashion industry.

Industry professionals teach sewing, fashion drawing, design, pattern drafting (both by hand and CAD), Digital Fashion Design, Merchandising, Styling, and more. Students have access to a well-equipped design lab, specialized databases and industry publications. The long-running spring fashion show featuring student-created brands, is an annual highlight for the program.

Students pursuing the Associate of Arts – Fashion Design pathway seamlessly transfer to the Bachelor of Arts Fashion degree at Arizona State University’s renowned Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Students may also wish to transfer to the UofA, NAU or CalPoly in Pomona, California.

ā€œIā€™m proud to create a product that can prevent the ill effects -- precancers, skin cancers, photo-aging ā€“ of sun exposure on the hands and one day generate profits to support a small burn clinic in Chiapas state in Mexico. This all started at Pima Community College in a Fashion Design class, something I never imagined.ā€
