Translation & Interpretation Studies
Certificate
Develop skills in written translation between English and Spanish in healthcare, legal, literary and business settings. A full-time student can complete this program in two semesters.
Upon completing the program, work an entry-level position as a professional translator or interpreter between English and Spanish and enjoy challenging work in healthcare, education or legal specialties for government or corporate entities. This certificate also could enhance your employability in other professions.
You will be eligible to enroll in TRS courses once you score a minimum of 601 on the Spanish WebCAPE (Computerized Adaptive Placement Test) or can provide proof of Spanish proficiency attained with either the successful completion of SPA 253, a score of 4 on the AP Spanish Language exam, or completion of Spanish courses at or above fifth-semester proficiency at an accredited college or university. Option: All courses are taught “HyFlex” - which means students may choose to attend class in person or complete course learning activities online.
