Program Effectiveness Data

PCC student pass rates for those industry examinations for which data is available are given below.

PCC Student Pass Rate

Following nursing program completion, graduates take the NCLEX-RN© licensure examination (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses). An annual rate is calculated based on the number of candidates who pass the test on the first attempt. PCC’s goal for NCLEX-RN first time test takers will be greater than 90% or the national mean (whichever is greater) during a 12 month period.

Year PCC pass rate Arizona State Average National Average
2020 91.9% 91.44% 86.58%
2021 87.5% 87.37% 82.48%
2022 89.01% 84.78% 79.90%

Completion Rate

Completion rate indicates the number of students who complete the nursing program in the amount of time equivalent to 100% of the program length. For PCC’s ADN program, this is four (4) semesters. For PCC’s LPN-RN transition option, this is three (3) semesters. The completion rate calculation takes into account variables including: students still enrolled in the program, student withdrawal for personal or medical reasons, and academic dismissals.

Arizona State Board of Nursing requires a minimum of 45% of students complete the program in 100% of the allotted time. However, Pima Community College strives to excel, therefore, our goal is 60% of students will complete the program in 100% of the allotted time.
