Two Pima phlebotomy students set up to practice in a Pima lab

Phlebotomy

Phlebotomists are an important part of the healthcare team. They work directly with patients while collecting blood samples and may also do lab processing tasks including data entry, centrifuging samples, packaging specimens for transport and delivering aliquots to appropriate testing departments. Employment opportunities include hospitals, patient service centers, life insurance companies, medical practices, outpatient services and donor centers.

Pima’s phlebotomy program will teach you how to collect blood samples safely and efficiently. You will also learn lab processing, sample evaluation, laboratory standards, ethical patient care, point of care testing, professionalism and requirements for national certification and continuing education.

Job Growth

Employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 23% through 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.
