
Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics

This program also covers the same information as the Aircraft General Mechanics certificate: common safety practices used when working on and around aircraft and related support equipment, how to identify and use applicable maintenance publications and documents, and knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
Students also learn how to inspect, assemble and repair aircraft sheet metal and composite structures, as well as how to inspect, service, install and repair aircraft support systems, and how to inspect, service, install and troubleshoot aircraft instruments and communication/navigation equipment; and repair, inspect, assemble, troubleshoot and service reciprocating engines, turbine engines, and engine support systems.
Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics courses are taught per the Federal Aviation Administration’s Federal Aviation Regulations Part 147 for FAA Aviation Maintenance Technician schools to allow a student to be qualified for Airframe and Powerplant certification.
