Cababi Art & Literary Magazine Submission Deadline Extended to Feb. 1
The submission deadline for the 2024-2025 edition of the Cababi Art & Literary Magazine is extended to Feb. 1. Submit your artwork, photography, creative writing or performance videos here. If you’re interested in volunteering for Cababi, please contact Molly McCloy.
Inclusive Discussion on Women in Higher Education
Join us 3:30-4:30 p.m., Feb. 4 via Google Meet for an inclusive conversation focusing on the experiences, challenges and opportunities for women in higher education — including cisgender women, trans women and nonbinary individuals who identify with women’s communities. This discussion will help shape the direction of the PCC affinity group for women, which seeks to address the unique concerns of women within the PCC community, including staff, faculty, administrators and students, while fostering a supportive environment.
Your voice matters! Share your insights, connect with colleagues and help create a supportive future for women in higher education. For additional information or to be added to the calendar invite, contact Maggie Golston, Kate Schmidt or Jessica Tinklenberg.
Nominate Your Student Employee for SEOTY by Jan. 31
Work Study supervisors have until Jan. 31 to make nominations for Student Employee of The Year (SEOTY). Take this opportunity to highlight the work of your student employee by completing this form.
HyFlex and Video-Enabled Classroom Help Sessions
PCC EdTech invites faculty to drop-in help sessions in HyFlex and video-enabled classrooms. These informal sessions are designed to provide hands-on practice with AV systems and to answer questions about HyFlex/video-enabled teaching, classroom technology and general tech use.
Faculty can explore:
- Classroom AV systems in HyFlex/video-enabled rooms
- College-supported software and its use in teaching
- Pedagogical best practices for integrating technology
- AI tools and how they can support your work
All are welcome. Stop by to practice, experiment or familiarize yourself with the technology. If your questions can’t be fully addressed during the session, we’ll schedule a follow-up for additional support. Since the AV systems are consistent across all campuses, attending any session that fits your schedule will prepare you to use the technology at any location.
Sessions:
- Northwest Campus: Room B312, Jan. 30, 9-11 a.m.
- Desert Vista Campus: Room B153, Jan. 30, 3-5 p.m.
- Downtown Campus: Room ST203, Jan. 31, 9-11 a.m.
- West Campus: Room C207, Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m.
Schedule an In-Person Meeting with a TIAA Financial Advisor
TIAA financial advisor Joah Yeoman will be available for in-person meetings 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 13 in Room RV-142 at Downtown Campus. Appointments are required and can be scheduled online. If you are unable to schedule through the website, please email esc-benefits@pima.edu or call 520-206-4945 for assistance.
9th Annual EGTSS Summit
The Ethnic, Gender, Transborder Studies and Sociology (EGTSS) Department hosts its 9th Annual Summit 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Feb. 28 in the Amethyst Room at Downtown Campus.
This year’s summit focuses on gathering input for the curriculum modification process from students and local experts in the field. Participants will include representatives of the University of Arizona, Tucson Unified School District, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and various community groups. Approximately 50 individuals are expected to review and provide feedback on curricula for American Indian Studies (AIS), Mexican American Studies (MAS), Gender and Women’s Studies (GWS) and Sociology (SOC).
PCC Small Business Development Center Completes Inaugural DreamBuilder Series
Pima’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) completed its inaugural DreamBuilder series for women-owned businesses in December 2024. This six-week hybrid program, funded by the City of Tucson, provided nearly 40 participants with resources and support to start or grow their businesses.
The series was held at the College’s Southern Arizona Technology & Entrepreneurship Center (SATEC), where participants had the opportunity to network, share experiences and collaborate in a supportive environment.
Building on this success, additional cohorts are planned beginning in March 2025.

Employees Can Designate Campus for Hygiene Closet Donations
The College’s Hygiene Closet has received a total of $815 in donations to start this semester: Desert Vista Campus, $150; Downtown Campus, $345; Northwest Campus, $150; West Campus, $150; and “Other,” $20.
The Hygiene Closet, renamed from the Hygiene Pantry, provides students with hygiene products, such as feminine hygiene products, deodorant, soap, shampoo and toothpaste.
College employees can make a one-time donation or set a monthly donation amount online.
You can choose a specific Hygiene Closet fund to support. Donations designated for Desert Vista or West campuses support the ARC center at that campus. Donations designated for Downtown, East or Northwest campuses fund distributions facilitated by the respective Student Life centers. Similarly, donations to Adult Education are distributed to its El Pueblo, El Rio and 29th Street sites. Meanwhile, donations to PimaOnline cover virtual gift cards for fully online students who cannot receive Pima in-person services. Donations made without a campus designation go to the Downtown Campus fund.
