9th Annual EGTSS Summit: Teach-In for Social Justice
Join us 8:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 28 at Downtown Campus for the Ethnic, Gender, Transborder Studies and Sociology (EGTSS) Department’s 9th Annual Summit. This year’s summit features a Teach-In for Social Justice, where distinguished speakers will discuss concerns regarding the new federal administration and its potential impact on ethnic and gender studies and vulnerable populations. This event is free and open to the public. Speakers include:

  • Nolan Cabrera, Ph.D., Professor, School of Education, University of Arizona
  • Alexandro Salomon Escamilla, Social Justice Educator and former Tucson Unified School District Mexican American Studies teacher
  • Octaviana Trujillo, Ph.D., Professor Emerita, Applied Indigenous Studies, Northern Arizona University
  • Lauren Beall, Staff Attorney, ACLU of Arizona

OSHA Form 300A Posting: 2024 Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses Summary
In compliance with federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, the OSHA Form 300A Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses for incidents that occurred at the College in 2024 is posted at all campus locations and on the Mandatory Postings page in MyPima.

Teaching Innovation Project Accepting Proposals for Fall 2025 Due Feb. 28
The Teaching Innovation Project, sponsored by the Office of the Provost, is accepting proposals for Fall 2025. The TIP initiative provides eligible, full-time faculty members the opportunity to develop innovative teaching and learning strategies that go beyond their regular roles and responsibilities.

The application deadline is Feb. 28. For more information about TIP, click here.

Tucson Festival of Books
Join us at the Tucson Festival of Books 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., March 15-16 at the University of Arizona Mall. Volunteer as a subject matter expert to share information about your program with the community or participate as a PCC community writer to showcase your published work. MacOS Upgrades Begin Today
Pima IT staff are upgrading College Mac desktops and laptops from macOS Ventura (13.0) or macOS Sonoma (14.0), depending on hardware compatibility, to macOS Sequoia (15.0). These upgrades are available in Self-Service. Starting today and over the next several days, the operating system upgrades will occur overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. No user action is required. If you have questions, submit an IT Support ticket in TeamDynamix or contact the IT Service Desk, 520-206-4900.

Annual Benefits Open Enrollment April 14-28
Open enrollment for the 2025-2026 benefits plan year is April 14-28. Starting April 14, benefits-eligible employees who want to update their current benefits elections may do so through the Online Enrollment Portal in MyPima by selecting @Work, Benefits Enrollment. Early submissions will not be accepted. Any changes made during this period will take effect July 1.

This year’s open enrollment will be conducted virtually, with one-on-one virtual appointments available throughout the two-week enrollment period.

The Community Engagement dashboard is accessible on MyPima. There you can:

  • Learn more about Pima’s collegewide community engagement and the resources available to you.

  • Sign up for volunteer opportunities to share your subject-matter expertise.
  • Share your volunteer opportunities and outreach photos.

Foundations of Department Headship Workshop Today
Join us today at 2:30 p.m. via Google Meet for an interactive workshop on navigating employee services. This session is designed to familiarize department heads with the Employee Service Center and its key functions, including benefits administration, payroll processes, employee onboarding and other essential services. The goal is to strengthen collaboration between department heads and the Employee Service Center to enhance efficiency in managing employee matters. Andrew Plucker and his team will facilitate the session.

PCC Affinity Group Upcoming Event
In recognition of United Nations International Women’s Day, a PCC affinity group is hosting an in-person networking event 8:30-10 a.m., March 8 in Room LB153 at the Downtown Campus Library. Connect with colleagues and allies over coffee and light refreshments as we celebrate this year’s theme, “March Forward: From Promises to Progress.”

Northwest Campus Massage Clinic Offering Services
The Northwest Campus Massage Clinic offers quality Swedish massage services to students, staff and members of the public. Pima employees and students with a Pima A# can enjoy a 50-minute massage for $20 ($30, public). The clinic is in Room A211 and appointments are available at 10:30 and 11:35 a.m. Fridays through March 14. 

Masking is required for both student-therapists and clients. Therapeutic massage is not recommended for anyone with serious or uncontrolled medical conditions, contagious illnesses or fever, or for women who are pregnant. To schedule an appointment, call 520-206-2062. Prepayment is required.

Nominations for Faculty Professional Enrichment Recognition Awards Due by March 7
The Faculty Professional Development and Sabbatical Standing Committee is accepting nominations for the Professional Enrichment Recognition Awards, which recognize innovative and outstanding faculty activities that positively impact students, the College and/or community. Recipients receive $500 and a certificate. Two awards are available annually, subject to funding. All faculty members, including full-time, adjunct and staff instructors, are eligible for nomination. Nominations may be submitted by students, staff, colleagues, administrators or community members. Faculty may also self-nominate. Nomination forms are due by March 7 to the Faculty Professional Development and Sabbatical Standing Committee. Awards will be presented at a future Governing Board meeting. For details, refer to page 7 of the PCC Employee Handbook, under Faculty Professional Enrichment Recognition Award.

Community of Practice for Supervisors
Organizational Effectiveness and Development, Employee Relations, and the Office of the Provost are launching a Community of Practice for Supervisors pilot program this spring. This initiative provides a collaborative space for supervisors to share knowledge, best practices and experiences.

Program Schedule and Topics:

  • March 11, 2-3 p.m.: Building Trust
  • April 8, 3:30-4:30 p.m.: Coaching for Development
  • May (date TBD), 2-3 p.m.: Becoming Comfortable with Uncomfortable Conversations

This program is open to all faculty, staff and administrators who supervise employees. To participate, submit this interest form by 5 p.m., Feb. 27.

Federal Work Study Supervisor Training Sessions
The College’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships hosts virtual Federal Work Study (FWS) supervisor training sessions this spring. Trainings will be in March, April and May. If you are or want to be a supervisor of a FWS student, sign up here for the virtual training

Web Intelligence Interactive Reports Training
Learn how to find and customize reports using the Web Intelligence (WebI) Interactive software. To enroll in the training:

  • Log into MyPima/MyCareer Center
  • Input the name of the training in the search bar 
  • Click “request” to the right of the session you want to attend.

Sun Tran Bus Route Updates
As of Feb. 23, Sun Tran updated several routes that serve the College both directly and indirectly. Please review the following changes and plan accordingly:

  • Routes 3 and 37: Route 3 will no longer serve Escalante Road; Route 37 will now cover Stella Road and Camino Seco
  • Routes 11 and 50: Route 50 is merging with Route 11, which will no longer serve South Sixth Avenue (Use Route 18 instead)
  • Route 7: Service west of Country Club Road along 22nd Street will be discontinued; rerouted via Aviation Parkway
  • Sun Shuttle: Routes 401, 412, 413, 421X, 430, 440 and 450 will have updated schedules.

Sign Up to Table at Student Employment Week Events
The College’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships seeks employees and instructors to table at one of its National Student Employment Week events April 14-17.

The events offer opportunities to meet current and future student workers, and share College information and resources.

Anyone interested should fill out this form. You can sign up to table on more than one day.

These are the event details:

  • April 14, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Downtown Campus 
  • April 15, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: East Campus

Pima Athletics News

Pima Men’s Basketball goes for its 30th consecutive win on Saturday afternoon, March 1, when it hosts Scottsdale Community College at 4 p.m. in the Aztec Gymnasium at West Campus. Pima (29-0, 17-0 in ACCAC) is undefeated this season and Ranked No. 1 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll.

Other Pima sports teams with home games in the next week:

  • March 1: Baseball vs. Scottsdale Post Grad (doubleheader), West Campus, Aztec Field, 12 p.m.
  • March 1: Women’s Basketball vs. Scottsdale Community College, West Campus, Aztec Gymnasium, 2 p.m.
