College Updates
@PimaNews Summer Schedule
The remaining summer issues of @PimaNews will be published on June 12 and 26, July 10 and 24, and Aug. 7. The first fall issue is scheduled for Aug. 21. The deadline for submitting announcements is noon, Mondays, the week of publication. Submissions should be no more than 75 words.
Help Us Amplify Student Voices
Pima’s marketing is evolving — we’re putting real students front and center to showcase their unique Pima journeys and let their voices shine. Know a student or alum who’d be a great fit? Encourage them to fill out this short form! They can share as much about themselves as they’d like and let us know which marketing projects interest them. With your help, we can feature more students and highlight the wide range of academic paths, interests and goals that make our Pima community so diverse. If you have questions, contact marketing@pima.edu.
AICPP Sessions Continue Through Summer
Pima’s AI Community of Practice and Play (AICPP) offers practical guidance on understanding and using artificial intelligence. In response to participant feedback, AICPP sessions will continue throughout the summer on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. All employees are welcome — no prior experience with AI needed. Upcoming meeting dates:
- June 3 and 17
- July 1, 15 and 29
- Aug. 8
Click here to join the meetings.
New Way to Share Suggestions with ODR
The Office of Dispute Resources (ODR) has launched a new email address, pcc-suggestions@pima.edu, where you can send ideas or feedback that is not a formal complaint. ODR staff will review suggestions and pass them along to the appropriate individuals or departments for consideration. For more information, visit the ODR page on MyPima or call 520-206-4686.

Camp Schedule:
- June 9-12, 12-2 p.m.
- June 16-19, 12-2 p.m.
- June 23-25, 12-2 p.m.
To register or learn more, contact Coach Peabody, 520-979-4946 or bpeabody@pima.edu.
Request to Transfer Sick to Annual Leave by June 30
Each June, eligible staff and administrators may request to transfer up to 40 hours of unused sick leave to annual leave. This option encourages the responsible use of sick leave throughout the year.
To qualify, an employee must:
- Be a regular, full-time staff member or administrator;
- Have completed their initial probation period by the time of the request, and;
- Have used no more than six sick leave days during the current fiscal year.
Requests must be submitted by June 30. Click here to submit your request. Approved transfers will be processed by July 31.
To review your sick leave usage, log into your Self-Service Dashboard in MyPima and select “Full Leave Balance Information.” Sick leave used for personal leave days is not counted toward the six-day usage limit. For more information, refer to Page 5 of the Transfer of Sick Leave to Annual Leave section in the Employee Handbook. If you have questions, contact esc-payroll@pima.edu.
SPD Funding Applications Open July 1 for FY2026
Beginning July 1, the Staff Professional Development (SPD) Working Group will accept applications for FY2026 funds, covering activities from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Eligible staff are regular full-time exempt and nonexempt employees at the director level or below.
The FY2026 application form will be available July 1. Applications submitted early or using the FY2025 form will not be accepted. The first round of reviews will begin after July 15.
To access the application, guidelines and policies, visit MyPima > Human Resources > Organizational Effectiveness & Development.
Before applying, employees must consult with their supervisor. Supervisors must email their approval to
pcc-staffprofessionaldevelopment@pima.edu. Applications without supervisor approval will be delayed. To ensure fair use of funds, no more than two employees per department may attend the same event using SPD funding.
SPD funds are for staff only. Faculty and adjunct faculty should contact their division for professional development support. If you have questions, email pcc-staffprofessionaldevelopment@pima.edu.
Register for the Teaching Strategies Workshop
The annual Teaching Strategies Workshop is 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Downtown Campus. Faculty are encouraged to propose a workshop or panel presentation by completing this form. Full-time and adjunct faculty will receive compensation for facilitating a session. To register for the event, log into MyPima, select 2025 Teaching Strategies Workshop, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click View Details, then Request. If you have questions, contact the TLC team, pcc-tlc@pima.edu.
Start Planning Your 2026-2027 Sabbatical Proposal
Full-time faculty, it’s not too early to begin preparing your sabbatical proposal for the 2026-2027 academic year. The submission deadline is Oct. 20.
The Sabbatical Program offers eligible full-time faculty the opportunity for extended professional development that benefits students, colleagues, the College and community. Faculty members may apply for their first one-semester (six-month) full-pay or half-pay sabbatical after completing five consecutive academic or fiscal years of full-time service at the College. For guidelines, visit MyPima > Intranet Home > Academic Services > Faculty Professional Development. If you have questions or need assistance with your application, please contact a member of the Faculty Professional Development & Sabbatical Committee.
Capital Asset Policy Update
Effective July 1, the College will raise its capital asset threshold from $5,000 to $10,000. This change aligns with the Office of Management and Budget’s Uniform Guidance that recently raised the federal threshold for capital equipment. Additional details will be shared on the intranet as the end of the fiscal year approaches.
