Pima Focuses on Health, Wellness for Black History Month Events
To celebrate Black History Month, Pima Community College is hosting special events focusing on health and wellness.
“Black History Month is an opportunity to center and celebrate the contributions of Black and African American scholars, artists, activists, business and other leaders,” says Hilda Ladner, Pima’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, adding that Black and African American representations should be recognized year-round.
She said the Association for the Study of African American Life and History identified health and wellness as this year’s theme, acknowledging the contributions of not only Black scholars and medical practitioners of Western medicine, but also elevating other ways of knowing and practicing wellness in the Black community.
