Community Invited to PCC Workshop on Speaking Out

Tucson, AZ – In observance of African-American History Month and Women’s History Month, Pima Community College invites the community to attend the cross-disciplinary event “Speaking Out: A Day of Inquiry and Exploration On March 7.

Throughout the day, participants will engage in activities and conversation. They will learn about the life and work of late American writer Audre Lorde and they will hear from guest speaker Linda Lumsden, University of Arizona Journalism and Gender and Women’s Studies Professor.

The day's activities will take place in the Downtown Campus Amethyst Room from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 7. Downtown Campus is at the northwest corner of Speedway Boulevard and Stone Avenue.

In association with the event, three full-year scholarships are being offered to current PCC students only. The scholarships are for:

  • Creative writing (submission deadline: Feb. 24)
  • Essay (submission deadline: Feb. 24)
  • Fine arts, as in music, theater, dance, or 3D and/or 2D art (submission deadline: Feb. 27).
