Tucson, AZ – On Oct. 3, Pima will celebrate 12 Center for Training and Development Practical Nursing students who have completed training.
What: Center for Training and Development’s Practical Nurse Pinning Ceremony
When: 4 p.m., Oct. 3, 2019
Where: Pima’s Desert Vista Campus, 5901 S. Calle Santa Cruz, Cafeteria [map]
Details: By invitation; media welcome
Info: 520-206-5100
Dozens of family and loved ones are expected to attend the ceremony. They join each student on stage, with one fastening a nursing pin to the student’s top. The traditional nursing pin identifies the student’s nursing school and is presented to each newly graduated nurse as a symbolic welcome into the profession. The ceremony will conclude with the students participating in a candle-lighting ritual and reciting of the Nightingale Pledge.
CTD has five Practical Nursing co-shorts complete training annually. Each student must complete 1,350 hours of training. The graduates next must pass the National Council Licensure Examination-PracticalNurse (NCLEX®-PN) to become Licensed Practical Nurses.
LPNs work in such healthcare settings as hospitals, physicians’ offices and outpatient clinics, as well as in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.
CTD offers certificate programs based on hours of successfully completed skills training rather than credits. It is based at PCC Desert Vista Campus, 5901 S. Calle Santa Cruz. Other healthcare trainings are Nursing Assistant and Surgical Technologist.
