Pima Community College to hold virtual teach-in about Russia’s war on Ukraine, March 24
Public can Zoom in, get answers to questions
Tucson, AZ -- Pima Community College faculty will conduct a virtual teach-in and a moderated question-and-answer session for Pima students and the community regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
- When: March 24, 7-8:30 p.m.
- How: The webinar will be conducted over Zoom.
Erich Saphir, Political Science faculty member and head of Pima’s Political Science and Economic departments, will start the teach-in with a brief summary of the current state of the war, what led up to it, and the international response.
Other topics and presenters: (All are tentative given the war’s rapidly changing dynamics.)
- Putin and Russia in historical context: Peter Becskehazy, Political Science faculty
- Philosophical perspectives: Darian Qureshi and Sarah Jansen, Philosophy faculty
- Economic implications: Gene Gotwalt, Economics faculty
- Media representations of the war: Francisca James Hernandez, Anthropology and Ethnic, Gender, and Transborder Studies faculty
- Impact on Ukrainian children: Ginny Harmelink, Early Childhood Education faculty
