Student highlight
Atheena “TT” Martinez has been a student in the Building & Construction Technologies IBEST Program at Pima since August 2021. In the IBEST programs, students strengthen their basic skills of Reading, Writing, and Math and study for their high school equivalency exams at the same time as they earn an industry-recognized certificate.
In the past six months, Ms. Martinez has not only studied for and received her GED diploma, but she has earned nine college credits toward her Building & Construction Technologies (BCT) Certificate and is actively enrolled in classes that will earn her an additional seven credit hours.
She was also recently selected for a position as a Student Aide at PCC’s Downtown Campus where she works in the tutoring center, assisting fellow students with check-ins, questions about our Learning Management System, and more. Ms. Martinez exemplifies what it means to be an Adult Education honor student.
