Pima Community College and the Gospel Rescue Mission Introduce New Workforce Training Partnership
Tucson, AZ – On September 22 Pima Community College and the Gospel Rescue Mission will celebrate the first cohort of Center of Opportunity guests who have completed short-term workforce training as part of a new program focused on helping individuals to leave homelessness and move to self-sufficiency.

Thanks to a $250,000 grant from Humberto Lopez and the HS Lopez Family Foundation in support of training opportunities, Pima Community College, Pima Foundation, and the Gospel Rescue Mission have joined together to offer free short-term workforce training to guests being served at the HS Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity located at the former Holiday Inn Holidome on South Palo Verde Road, now owned by the HS Lopez Family Foundation and operated by the Gospel Rescue Mission.
This event will celebrate the first cohort of guests who have successfully completed Pima’s short-term training in Information Technology, Culinary Arts, and Commercial Drivers License Class A. Training in Building and Construction Technology is scheduled to start this fall.
Center of Opportunity guests who have completed training will be available for interviews.
The HS Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity is a one-stop refuge of hope that provides shelter and holistic support for guests as they journey out of homelessness into self-sufficiency. For more information, go to centerofopportunity.org.
