Pima Helps Students Understand How Proposition 308’s Passage Affects Them
Qualifying noncitizen Arizona high school graduates now can get in-state tuition at Arizona community colleges
Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College has resources to help current and prospective students affected by the passage of Proposition 308, which allows qualifying non-citizen Arizona high school graduates to receive in-state tuition at Arizona’s community colleges.
Information about Proposition 308, including answers to Prop 308 Frequently Asked Questions and a Chancellor’s Message are on the Proposition 308–Welcome Students and the Community Web page. In addition, quick links to Proposition 308 can be found at the bottom of the pima.edu homepage.
“The passage of Proposition 308 is a positive development for our DACA students and others who do not have lawful immigration status, as well as their families, friends and classmates,” says Chancellor Lee D. Lambert, J.D. “By granting in-state tuition to these students, we are supporting our core values of diversity, equity and inclusion in a tangible way that will benefit all Arizonans.
Current and potential students with questions about the admissions process for Proposition 308, can contact the PCC Immigrant and Refugee Student Resources Center, 520-206-7181 or pcc-irsrc@pima.edu.
Pima also will do community outreach to ensure that prospective students and their families are aware of this new law, and to encourage them to explore furthering their educational and career journeys at the College.
“The passing of Proposition 308 is a major step forward for the College and the State, and contributes to Pima’s practice of recognizing the economic and social contributions of all in building strong, vibrant communities,” Lambert said.
