PCC Director Vanessa Arellano Selected to Join HACU’s Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo

Tucson, AZ—Pima Community College’s Director of the Office of the Provost and Assistant to the Provost, Vanessa Arellano, has been selected to join the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACUs) Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo, for the 2024-2025 academic year.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be selected for the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ La Academia de Liderazgo,” said Vanessa Arellano, Director of Provost’s Office Initiatives & Assistant to the Provost. “As a Pima Community College alumna, the success of students through an equity lens is a cause that resonates personally with me. This program not only offers an invaluable opportunity to grow as a leader, but also strengthens our collective ability to lead with intentionality, purpose, and impact, especially within Hispanic-Serving Institutions. I am excited to contribute to the future of higher education by advancing equity and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to thrive.”

Arellano will represent PCC on the HACU leadership committee. She is one of 44 other individuals who will represent higher education institutions nationwide. This is the sixth cohort of the HACU Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo, a program designed to increase diverse representation in executive and senior-level positions in higher education.

Those selected for the HACU Leadership Academy will engage in comprehensive leadership development programs. This initiative is specifically designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary for leadership roles, with a particular focus on Hispanic-Serving Institutions and Emerging HSIs.
