Pima Takes you Back to the ’80s with Hilarious and Heartwarming Musical-Comedy “The Wedding Singer,” Feb. 27

Tucson, AZ – Pima Theater is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of the hit musical-comedy “The Wedding Singer.” This heartwarming and laugh-out-loud show will transport audiences to 1985 with its irresistible mix of big hair, neon colors, and unforgettable music.

Based on the beloved 1998 film, “The Wedding Singer” tells the story of Robbie Hart, a wedding singer with a heart of gold who loses all hope in love after being left at the altar. Enter Julia, a kind-hearted waitress who dreams of her perfect wedding. As Robbie helps Julia plan her big day, sparks fly, but there’s one problem—Julia is engaged to the wrong guy. Packed with humor, romance, and show-stopping musical numbers, “The Wedding Singer” is a celebration of love and second chances.

Directed by Simone Jolivet-Manuel, the production features Chris Will as assistant director and music director, and Mickey Nugent as choreographer. With music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and a book by Tim Herlihy and Chad Beguelin, this high-energy musical promises to delight audiences of all ages.

“This show is a celebration of creativity and resilience, marking our largest cast since the pandemic, bringing together an incredible group of performers from all walks of life,” says Jolivet-Manuel. “With a diverse double cast and dynamic energy, ‘The Wedding Singer’ is bursting with outstanding dance numbers that will have you tapping your feet all night long. “It’s been a rewarding experience to bring this lively and heartfelt musical to life, and we can't wait to share it with you!”
