World Premiere of ‘Borderline’ Brings Border Myths and Monsters to the Pima Stage April 24-May 4

Guest director Julian Cardenas brings a dynamic vision to “Borderline”

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College is proud to present “Borderline,” a powerful and thought-provoking theatrical production directed by guest director Julian Cardenas and written by Andrew Sianez-De La O. “Borderline,” running April 24-May 4 in the Black Box Theatre, brings to life the ghost stories of the borderlands — where folklore, family and survival collide.

Set on the desert border between Mexico and the U.S., “Borderline” follows two young storytellers and two secret-keepers as they navigate the blurred line between myth and reality. Faced with an eerie presence in the desert, they must rely on each other, the stories of their past, and the voice of a repentant relative to escape the darkness. Weaving together childhood fears and real-world dangers, this production offers an unforgettable theatrical experience for audiences of all ages — exploring themes of identity, courage and tradition.

Guest director Julian Cardenas brings a dynamic vision to “Borderline,” drawing from his diverse background in education and leadership. Cardenas is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies and Theatre Arts. He is passionate about storytelling that reflects the cultural and social experiences of the communities he serves.

Don’t miss this compelling and timely production. Join us at Pima Community College for a journey into the myths, secrets and voices that shape the borderlands.
