Pima Community College to Celebrate Class of 2025 at Commencement Ceremony, May 21
TUCSON, AZ — Pima Community College will celebrate its graduating Class of 2025 during its annual commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center Arena.
This year, Pima will confer 5,983 degrees and certificates to 4,714 graduates, some of whom have earned multiple credentials. The ceremony will honor student achievement across a range of academic and workforce programs, from Nursing and Liberal Arts to Cybersecurity and Business Administration.
The commencement speaker is Alexandra Marie Belford, a 35-year-old non-traditional student who has lived in Tucson since the age of three and is Graduating with highest honors in Liberal Arts. Belford is a passionate advocate for underserved communities. Her work has included volunteer projects related to ADA compliance, housing access, and disability services. A former Direct Care Worker at United Cerebral Palsy of Southern Arizona, she plans to transfer to a university this fall to pursue a law degree and ultimately serve as an international human rights lawyer.
“I’m a firm believer in paying it forward and not forgetting where you came from and all that helped you,” Belford said. “I believe in leaving a place better than you found it.”
The five most popular associate degrees among graduates this year include:
- Liberal Arts (AA): 782 graduates
- Science (AS): 225 graduates
- Business Administration (ABUS): 174 graduates
- Nursing (AAS): 153 graduates
- General Studies (AGS): 34 graduates
Class of 2025 Highlights:
- The youngest graduate is 16, earning a certificate in Emergency Medical Technology.
- The oldest graduate is 72, earning a post-degree certificate in Paralegal/Legal Assistant.
- 180 students (8.42% of associate degree recipients) are graduating with a GPA of 3.90 or higher and will receive highest honors.
- The College will award 1,847 Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) certificates as part of its university transfer preparation efforts.
