Pre-Admission Information Sessions

Interested in the Radiologic Technology program? Watch a recorded Radiologic Technology program Information Session. These sessions provide important information about the Radiologic Technology Program. After reviewing the Information Session recording, please contact your Enrollment Advisor or Program Advisor for more information. These sessions provide important information about the health programs and careers.

Program Pre-Admission Requirements

  • New and Transfer students are required to complete the program admissions application.
  • New students must complete assessment tests for math, reading and writing. Recent high school graduates may use multiple measures as advised by a student services advisor.
  • Transfer courses earned from another regionally accredited institution are not valid until they have been officially evaluated & grades have been posted on PCC transcripts. An official (sealed) transcript and Student Request for Transcript Evaluation form must be submitted to the PCC Registrar’s Office.
  • If grades and/or assessment scores are not posted on PCC transcripts at the time of program application, application requests will be denied.
  • It is advisable to complete support courses prior to starting any HRP core curriculum.

Applying for Radiologic Technology

This degree program requires a special program application. Please read all of the information on this page carefully.

The Radiologic Technology program uses a Competitive Admissions metric for applicant entry.

Competitive Admissions Process and Metric

  • Preparatory coursework must be completed (with grades posted) as described in Program Requirements before applying to the program.
  • Once preparatory coursework is complete, students apply online through MyPima under Students, Academics, under Quick Links select West Campus HRP Program Application.
  • Additional points may be earned by completion of certain support courses as shown on the score sheet.
  • Applicants will be scored using the Radiologic Technology Program Admissions Scoring Sheet
  • The Admissions Committee will review applicants from the Spring and Fall applicant pools and notify accepted students in November of that year.
  • Radiology accepts 24 students each year to start; however as there are already admitted students on a waitlist to start, we will offer 20 seats per year to students applying through the selective admissions process. The other 4 seats will go to previously accepted students.
  • This will ensure we can honor the admissions and start dates already granted to students on the waitlist.

New applicants applying

New applicants will be eligible to apply during the two application windows each year for admission into the program for the following year:

  • Spring window: Jan 1st - Jan 31st
  • Fall Application Window: August 1 thru August 31st

All applications received for that year (in both pools) will be reviewed, and the top 20 candidates will be offered admission in November of that year. The program would begin the following year.

Students who gained admission to the program before August 1, 2020

  • Those who have already applied and have a spot on the waitlist will keep their seat on the waitlist.
  • The new admissions requirements will be enforced starting on August 1, 2020. The new admissions requirements are listed below under the Competitive Admissions Process and Metric section.
  • Students who are on the waitlist by August 1, 2020 may choose to re-apply through the competitive admissions process to attempt to get one of the 20 seats/year granted through competitive admissions—however, if they do apply, their spot on the waitlist will be forfeit and they cannot regain it. This forfeit applies whether the student’s competitive application is accepted or not.

Program Admissions and Course Information

  • Vaccinations required for entering/continuing in the Radiologic Technology program: The Radiologic Technology program works with hospitals and agencies that require the hepatitis B vaccination (series of three vaccinations) and an annual flu vaccination. All students who are enrolled or entering the Radiologic Technology program must provide documentation of receiving these vaccinations or a positive titer. Please be aware that the hepatitis vaccination is a series of three shots with 1-2 months between the first and second shot and four months between the second and third shot. All students must get these vaccinations and/or titers immediately. Students who do not provide proof of receiving the vaccinations or a positive titer when entering the Radiologic Technology program will have to reapply to the program. The hospitals and agencies that PCC works with strictly enforce these requirements. Additional vaccination requirements for the clinical portion of the program are listed in the next section of this page.
  • Watch the Radiologic Technology program information session.
  • Radiologic Technology Program admits qualified students in the summer semester based on clinical site availability.
  • Completion time for the RAD program is based on compass assessment results, and/or completion of support courses.
  • Must receive a C grade or better in all core courses to progress to the next semester.
  • RAD program consists of six semesters of core courses requiring a two year commitment.
  • RAD program curriculum is offered only on a full-time basis at PCC West Campus.

Important Information on Licensure

Students should be aware that the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) requires applicants to acknowledge any misdemeanor or felony convictions. An investigative process must be completed before a license is issued. Students with a misdemeanor or felony conviction must complete a pre-application form available from the ARRT website. Students not cleared through this process will be ineligible to take the ARRT, national certification exam.
