Emergency Medical Technology

Combine your passion for helping others with the skills and knowledge required to be an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic.

Students who complete Pima’s EMT program are eligible to sit for the Arizona and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exams, apply for employment as an emergency medical technician, pursue an Emergency Medical Technology-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification or continue taking classes towards the Paramedic Associate of Applied Science degree to become a nationally registered paramedic.

In Pima’s EMT certification program, you will learn pre-hospital emergency care, including physical assessment, medical techniques and ambulance operations.

In Pima’s Paramedic Associate of Applied Science program, you will receive academic and hands-on skills training to enhance your ability to provide patients with immediate emergency medical care. You will learn endotracheal intubation, cardiac arrhythmia recognition and intervention, drug therapy, invasive procedures, advanced airway management, and intravenous (I.V.) therapy.
