General Education Mobile (GEM)
Complete your 15-credit hour Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) general education course requirement online.
Pima’s General Education Mobile (GEM) program is sponsored by CCAF as a way for Air Force students like you to quickly complete general education courses. With GEM, you can take courses that cover the five CCAF general education areas: Oral communication, written communication, mathematics, social sciences, and humanities.
Pima’s GEM Requirements
To fulfill your 15-credit general education requirement, you must complete one course in each of the following categories from Pima. All courses are taught online and offered in various term lengths: 5, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 weeks.

Note: Some courses require assessment test scores prior to registration. These tests may be proctored online or at a location near you. Please contact the PCC Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Assessment and Testing Center at (520) 206-4866 or email dmec@pima.edu to arrange a proctored assessment test. *MAT 142RQ and 151RQ have required corequisites.
How to join GEM
The first step to join GEM is to apply to Pima. Apply to Pima online anytime.
If this is your first time in college, you will need to attend an online new student orientation. Even if this isn't your first school, you can attend orientation to explore Pima’s services, processes, and support resources.
Next, you can activate your MyPima account to register for online classes and view your schedule. The final step is to complete your Tuition Assistance (TA) application within AFVEC.

Pima student services
Pima provides access to numerous online student support systems. On MyPima, you can:

MyPima also provides access to your online courses by linking to Desire2Learn (D2L), Pima’s online learning system. You will use D2L to access your online course materials, submit assignments, access grades, and communicate with your instructors and classmates.
