Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance (COA) is determined annually by the Office of  Financial Aid and Scholarships using the Consumer Price Index. It estimates the average costs a student may pay while attending college each academic year (fall and spring semesters). The different types of financial aid awarded to a student cannot exceed the COA and students can view their COA in their MyPima account.

The estimated COA lists average direct and indirect student expenses:

  1. Direct: Costs associated with going to school like tuition, fees, books and supplies.
  2. Indirect: Costs associated with living, such as room and board, personal expenses and transportation. Loan fees, if applicable, are included in indirect costs.

*It is not possible to build all the different combinations of costs for the academic year. The figures are estimated and based on regular in-state and non-resident costs. They DO NOT include differential tuition, Lifetime Learners' benefits, online-only courses, or any students enrolling in more than 15 credit hours per semester.

If you have additional or unexpected expenses due to a special circumstance, a financial aid administrator may be able to adjust data elements to increase the COA.
