Disbursements and Refunds
Disbursement is the process of crediting financial aid to your student account at PCC. Financial aid is first applied to tuition and fees. If there are any remaining funds after the financial aid is applied to tuition and fees a refund will be issued through direct deposit (eRefunds). If you are not enrolled in eRefunds, an email from our third-party partner, Checkbook, containing a link to your Digital Check will be sent directly to your Pima student email account. From this email, you can select Instant Deposit to initiate an Original Card Transaction (OCT) deposit to your debit card or enter your address to request a check be mailed to you. The disbursement date is the date your financial aid is credited to your student account, not the date that funds will arrive at your home or bank account, please allow additional time for delivery.
Financial aid is calculated based on classes that apply to your program of study. If the calculated financial aid does not cover the tuition and other charges, you will need to pay the balance or set up a payment plan for the balance.
Different types of financial aid have different eligibility criteria and disbursement dates. We recommend that you review the disbursement chart under the semester heading you are attending, such as Fall, Spring, and/or Summer.
Disbursement Dates
Financial Aid is disbursed to your student account to cover tuition and fees after 7 p.m., generally on the date listed below.
Review the table to determine your estimated disbursement date. If any of your classes have a different start date than what is listed below, contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for an estimated date.

There are different types of grants that are available. Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), and the Arizona Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (AzLEAP). Each grant may have different disbursement requirements.
The Grant amount and disbursement is based on the number of credits you are enrolled in or attending that apply directly to your program of study. The enrollment level captured for Pell Grant calculation is a particular day in the semester which “freezes” the Pell Grant amount. It is important to enroll in your classes before the semester begins even if the class is a late start class. You can find more about this process here: Pell Recalculation Date.
Most scholarship disbursements occur one calendar day prior to the start of your first class with the exception of the following scholarships:
- Pima Athletics Scholarship disbursements occur 5 calendar days after the start of your first class.
- Pima Foundation Scholarship, Pima Foundation Renewal Scholarship and Earn to Learn Scholarship disbursements occur 15 calendar days after the start of your first class.
Please note the following changes can that can impact scholarship eligibility:
- Some scholarships require you to take a certain number of credits. In such cases, the scholarship will only be disbursed if you are enrolled in the required number of credits.
- Non-PCC scholarships will disburse after funds are received from the donor, but no earlier than one day before classes begin. If you are expecting a non-PCC scholarship and do not see it listed in your MyPima account, you might want to contact the donor to see if the funds have been sent to the College. Information to mail scholarship checks is found here.
Work Study employees receive payroll payments based on a timesheet that is submitted bi-weekly. The payment is a paycheck. The estimated Work Study award is funds that “can be” earned. This means you will only receive the amount you work to earn.
It is recommended for work study employees to sign up for direct deposit. If you do not sign up for direct deposit, you will receive a check card from the Employee Service Center (esc@pima.edu) to gain access to your paycheck.
