PCC Statement on Recent Changes in Federal Higher Education and Immigration Policies
Pima Community College is steadfast in its commitment to providing safe, welcoming, and inclusive teaching and learning for all students, faculty, and staff and ensuring affordable and accessible higher education for all. We recognize that recent changes to federal budget policies and immigration enforcement may generate fear and uncertainty, and we are dedicated to ensuring our community members feel supported.
Federal Financial Aid
Regarding President Trump's Executive order pausing federal grants and loans, according to the U.S. Department of Education, the temporary pause will not impact “assistance received directly by individuals,” including federal direct student loans, Federal Work Study and Pell Grants. The College is closely monitoring guidance from the Department of Education and will provide updates as needed.
Immigration
PCC values the diverse backgrounds of our students and supports all individuals who wish to pursue affordable higher education without fear or intimidation. In alignment with our mission and values, we uphold the rights, dignity, privacy, and safety of every member of our college community.
Protection of Student Privacy:
In compliance with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), PCC does not release student information to third parties, including law enforcement, without proper legal authorization or the written consent of the student. Role of PCC Staff and Faculty: PCC employees are instructed to direct any inquiries or requests from outside law enforcement to the PCC Police Department. Under no circumstances should employees provide information about a student without prior authorization. Employees with questions about a request for student information should seek assistance from the Office of the Registrar.
