College Readiness Learning Opportunities

Pima Community College offers new and returning students a number of learning opportunities focused on digital literacy, math, reading, writing, and college prep. Scroll through the options to find any that fit your needs.

Content Refreshers

Are you a current Pima student interested in strengthening your math, reading, or writing skills over the Summer? Do you want to keep up your momentum from the Spring Semester or get extra practice before taking or retaking a class?

The Learning Center Summer Refreshers can help! We offer FREE refresher sessions for the following subjects: Writing and Reading, Intermediate Math (ICS081-MAT092), and Advanced Math (MAT 097 - MAT142/151).

These are FREE sessions with a chance to win a $300 tuition credit in a drawing upon completion! For questions, contact (520)206-5061.

Writing/Reading

  • Topics covered include:
    • Summarization and understanding content
    • Language tools such as objective/subjective
    • Sentence structure
    • Essay development, thesis statements, and more!
  • Scheduling:
    • 7 self-paced modules, fully online instruction available for 5 weeks
    • Monday, July 7th - Thursday, August 7th 
    • Join any time, work at your own pace, with weekly one-hour virtual workshops to help supplement your learning journey.
    • In person, virtual, and online feedback/tutoring available throughout.

Intermediate Math (ICS081 - MAT 092)

  • Topics covered include:
    • Properties/laws and Order of Operations
    • Fractions
    • Proportions, ratios, and percents
    • Geometry
    • Solving linear equations
    • Inequalities and absolute value
    • Exponents
    • Study tips, growth mindset, and EdReady Diagnostic
  • Scheduling:
    • 8 day, 2 hour virtual instruction
    • July 7th - 17th
    • Monday -Thursday 5-7pm
    • In person, virtual, and online feedback/tutoring available throughout.

Advanced Math (MAT097 - MAT142/151)

  • Topics covered include:
    • Graphing and linear equations
    • Polynomials
    • Factoring
    • Rational expressions and equations
    • Radicals
    • System of equations
    • Intro to exponential and logarithmic equations
    • Study tips, growth mindset, and EdReady Diagnostic
  • Scheduling:
    • 8 day, 2 hour virtual instruction
    • July 28th - August 7th
    • Monday -Thursday 5-7pm
    • In person, virtual, and online feedback/tutoring available throughout.

Summer College Prep

Level up in math and complete a STU class in 4 weeks! The College Readiness & Student Success team offers a learning experience specifically designed for new college students. The sessions allow students to begin the fall semester at a higher level of math. This saves you time and money! The college's success coaches and faculty will have you primed for success after completing the program. Get excited to move forward in your math goals!
