Learning Communities
A unique education opportunity!
In a Learning Community, you register for two courses with the same group of students. The classes are linked, and the professors work together so the content overlaps. By the end of the semester, you will see how important these connections can be.

When Am I Ever Going to Need Math?
Spring 2025 | Downtown Campus
Tuesday | 7:30-8:45 a.m.
Thursday | 7:30-11:30 a.m.
Math students always ask, “But when am I going to use this stuff?!” In this Learning Community, every week you will explore new uses for math in the construction world.
Work with your classmates as a team, just as you would on the job. Together we’ll calculate the number of bricks in the red walkway on Downtown campus, the dimensions of a box that uses the least cardboard, and the volume of liquid concrete you need to order for your boss. Learn fun construction math. Did you ever wonder why a wrench has a 15 degree angle? You might buy the wrong amount of supplies for your project if you round to two decimals! How do we “Lay Out” a circular-shaped building?
Accelerate your career in construction: it just makes sense!
