Program Requirements
Dental Hygiene AAS
All students who are entering or continuing the Dental Hygiene program must provide proof of the following vaccinations:
- MMR
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (three (3) doses)
- Tdap
- Annual flu shot
- Annual TB test (or negative chest x-ray)
- COVID-19 (recommended, not required)
Documentation of positive titers is mandatory, or students must reapply.
- Students may request a vaccination exemption. Contact the Dental Hygiene Program Director for information on the process and the Vaccination Declination Form.
Physical and Mental Readiness:
Students should be prepared for physically demanding activities, such as patient lifting and prolonged standing, and mentally prepared to handle stress and critical decision-making.
Program Requirements:
- Attend DHE Program Orientation
- Obtain/maintain an Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Pass a urine toxicology screening
- Serve as a patient for classmates’ practice (under licensed supervision)
- Follow OSHA and CDC guidelines for safety and exposure
- Manage work, personal, and academic responsibilities
- Arrange transportation to clinical sites
- Maintain health insurance throughout enrollment
Program Details:
The DHE program is a full-time, 4-semester curriculum held at PCC West Campus. Core courses must be passed with a "C" or better, and students may re-enter the program once within a year if they withdraw, space permitting.
