Honors Contract
Honors Contracts can be completed in any course numbered 100 and above. Contracts are one of the ways to earn honors credit for the Honors Program Certificate which can be earned along with your primary degree or certificate at graduation.
With an Honors Contract, you will shape the course to you interests for honors credit. Examples of projects include:
- Experiments
- Recitals or performances
- Research papers
- Creating original art such as a musical composition, sculpture, or script
Honors Contracts add approximately five hours of work per credit of the course. For example, a 3-credit course would involve 15 hours of additional work over the course of the semester.

How to Begin an Honors Contract
You can apply for an honors contract by completing these steps:
- Successfully complete HON 101 with a grade of B or higher or be currently enrolled
- Contact an Honors Coordinator
- Contact your instructor to fill out the Honors Contract form
- Return the form to your Honors Coordinator for approval.
Your Honors Coordinator will sign the contract or work with you to revise it. You will also need your coordinator’s signature at the completion of the course.
