Financial Holds

Are you trying to register for classes, pay your bill, and find that you have a hold on your student account? We are here to help you understand why – and what you can do to remove it.

A hold may be placed on your student account for any of the following reasons:

  • An overdue balance from a current or previous term
  • An account that has been sent to a collection agency

If a hold is placed on your account, you will not be able to register for a new term until the hold is resolved.

Viewing Holds

To see if there is a hold on your account:

  1. Log in to MyPima
  2. Select the Academics tab, then Student Profile
  3. On the Student Profile page, holds are indicated on the upper right of the page

Releasing Financial Holds

The answer depends on the type of hold on your student account.

  • Past due balance hold (for either the current term or a past term): You can remove the hold by paying your account balance in full. When your account is paid in full, the hold should be released within 1 business day. Pay your account balance online through MyPima's MyAccountManager or in person at Accounts Receivable Services at the West or Downtown Campuses.
  • Multiple registration drops for non-payment: Students who have twice been dropped for non-payment will receive this registration hold. Once you have made financial arrangements for your classes, contact Accounts Receivable Services to request a release of the hold.
  • Collection agency hold: If your debt has been handed over to a collection agency, you will need to contact the collection agency to resolve the hold. Check the View Holds page (see instructions above) to find the collection agency's phone number.

Non-Financial Holds

A hold may also be placed on your account for non-financial reasons. View the hold to determine the correct department to contact. If you need help, contact the Student Service Center.
